Mariana Bernardes, Ph.D.

Mariana C. Bernardes is a Researcher Fellow in Radiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Harvard Medical School. She is specialized in medical robotics and her research is focused on robot-assisted minimally invasive procedures, particularly in laparoscopy and image-guided percutaneous interventions. Before joining the BWH, she received a B.S. in Mechatronics Engineering and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Brasilia, and a Ph.D in Automation and Microelectronic Systems from University of Montpellier. She was an Assistant Professor at the University of Brasilia from 2015 to 2021, where she co-founded the Laboratory for Testing of Electromedical Devices and Systems (LENSE).
